Intent
At St Nicholas, we intend to make music an enjoyable learning experience that will inspire pupils to develop a love of music and nurture their musical talents. Music is a way to introduce pupils to a diverse range of musical styles and traditions, including traditional hymns, classical music, gospel, jazz, pop, rock, and rap. By exploring the origins and historical significance of different musical genres, pupils will gain a greater knowledge of the world they live in and its relevance in today’s world. We believe that through a broad curriculum and dedicated teaching, we can increase pupils’ musical knowledge and skills. Music education can help cultivate creativity, self-expression, and confidence amongst pupils, empowering them to explore their gifts and abilities in a supportive environment.
